In this news, Samuel L. Jackson clearly takes on the role of the founder of the Avengers, surrounded by other faces well known to fans: Cobie Smulders in the skin of Agent Maria Hill, Ben Mendelsohn in Talos, Don Cheadle still under the features. Roddy or even Martin Freeman who plays CIA agent Everett Ross.
The series also makes room for special newcomers such as Kingsley Ben-Adre, Emilia Clarke, Dermot Mulroney and… Olivia Colman!
Known for her roles in The Crown, Broadchurch, The Father and winning the 2019 Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite, the British actress makes her first appearance here in the MCU. An especially interesting project for those who dreamed of joining a franchise!
“Meet all my expectations!”
When asked about her role in the Secret Invasion series at a press conference, Olivia Colman admitted that she had long wanted to play a role in the Marvel universe: “After every Marvel movie that came out, I would ask my agent, ‘Can I do Marvel, please?’
One mention of the word Marvel and I’m like, “Yes, please.” Hence the secret invasion. I was very nervous and it exceeded all my expectations!”
This role was also an opportunity for the actor to answer Nick Fury’s interpreter: “I was so excited to meet Samuel L. Jackson!”
Olivia Colman plays Sonia Falsworth in Secret Invasion. Afraid of revealing spoilers, the actress explains that her character “Works for MI6, likes to wear red, funny and sometimes not so nice”. Samuel L. Description completed by Jackson: “And possibly the most dangerous woman in Great Britain . . .”
