The third season of The Witcher – running in two parts – will mark a major turning point for the hit Netflix series. Because at the end of this season 3, Henry Cavill will be leaving the program and bequeathing the role of wizard Geralt of Rivia to Liam Hemsworth.
The announcement of Henry Cavill’s departure deeply saddened the program’s fans, but the series’ creators were also thrown into limbo by the decision. This was especially revealed by Anna Chalotra, Yennefer’s translator, during the interview variety.
The British actor thus revealed that it was only after filming the third season that Henry Cavill left the team. A statement that hasn’t damaged the bonds that unite the stars of the cast, as evidenced by the latter’s recent praise for his co-stars during Tudum (and his takedown of the series’ writers).
“We didn’t find out until after filming. It’s always an emotional moment when we finish shooting a season – it means the end of eight months of filming with the whole crew.”He said and added:
We all felt the sense of loss, he was by our side from day one. We have been through a lot of hardships together. This ended five years of collaboration not only in the world of The Witcher, but also in Pandemic – all this created a very strong bond between us.
However, Anna Chalotra is also looking forward to working with Liam Hemsworth, whom she has yet to meet. “But with whom we have already exchanged e-mails”.
“We didn’t have an affinity test. I wasn’t involved in his casting. But I’m very excited to discover his version of Geralt. And only then can we define our group dynamic.” he added.
The third will appear on Netflix in two parts on June 29th for the first part and July 27th for the second part.
