Surprising revelations, tragic deaths and many unanswered questions: this is how the end of the second season of the Amazon Prime Video series has left us.
After the shocking ending of the seventh episode, ‘The Boys’ could not get more explosive. Or if? The second season of the Amazon Prime Video series has raised the bar for violence, sociopolitical reflection and parody of the superhero universe, three pillars that it has taken to the extreme.
William Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), MM (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) have tried to tickle Vought.. And it hasn’t been easy having not only the psychopath Patriot (Antony Starr), but also a mysterious new supervillain, Stormfront (Aya Cash), who hasn’t gone unnoticed with her far-right crowd control techniques.
The eighth episode, which marks the end of the story until the third season arrives, has left us with some surprising revelations, bitter goodbyes and the occasional promising possibility that gives us hope to see the boys together again. We discuss everything point by point in case you missed any important details.

Panic spreads in the US
If viewers were shocked by the head-exploding moment of the seventh episode, we can already imagine how the American population has reacted within the Amazon Prime Video fiction. The event, which occurred as the courts were about to try Vought, has left a deep impression on people, who feel insecure and you want to be able to protect yourself against such a threat. It’s the gun control debate, but now we’re talking about a substance that can give superpowers. Chaos assured. And that’s good for Stormfront, Patriot and their plans.
Breaking news: Component V will be marketed nationally. And the protagonists want to stop it at all costs. Butcher and the team want to use the weapons to take down all the ‘supes’, but Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Hughie ask them for a little time to find another less bloody and dangerous way. They visit Maeve (Dominique McElligott) and they ask him to testify against Vought, but he refuses. Later, while they are driving, A-Train (Jessie Usher) scares them to death to deliver some documents he has stolen from the Church of the Collective. In them there are photographs and documentation necessary to prove that Stormfront, America’s new favorite superhero, is a Nazi of more than 100 years. A-Train does not do it to collaborate in her cause: he knows that the racist of her ex-partner is the only thing that separates him from her return to The 7 and he is willing to bring her down. And it is precisely this information that will start the great event of this last episode of the season.
Ryan’s Rescue
Becca (Shantel VanSanten) manages to escape from the fake Vought housing estate and goes in search of Butcher to help him recover his son Ryan, who, if we remember, was manipulated and kidnapped by Patriot and Stormfront in the previous episode. Butcher promises that he will do his best and arranges a meeting with Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito), the head of Vought. He offers him a deal: if he reveals Ryan’s location, he’ll help get him to safety. Edgar’s interest in this topic is clear: Ryan was conceived precisely to be more powerful than his father and to be able to control him the moment he loses control.. It’s life insurance against the most powerful man on the planet. And Butcher, even though he knows it will destroy his wife, promises to give them the child, who is in a cabin in the woods.
A) Yes, News about Stormfront’s Nazi past comes to light, causing her to leave for the city.. A device set up by Frenchie creates an excruciating beeping noise and causes Patriot to also leave the house to find out what she is. With Ryan alone, they take the opportunity to rescue him and take him to a safe place. Butcher decides to break his deal with Stan Edgar and keep his promise to Becca. He will take them to the CIA so that they are safe. Well, if they can escape the one that’s coming their way.
The Battle Against Stormfront
Stormfront reappears at the scene, quite pissed off after her past has been discovered. The fight begins, and, when it seems that the protagonists will not be able to with her and her superpowers, Maeve appears to join the resistance.. In fact, it is the women of the group (Maeve, Starlight and Mimiko) who give the Nazi the beating of her life, who in the end has to flee flying so that they do not kill her.
But it doesn’t go away, but intercepts Butcher, Becca, and Ryan, who were fleeing through the woods. They have nothing to do against her, but they certainly try. Becca sticks a knife in her eye, and Stormfront begins to strangle her. Butcher is offside and Ryan doesn’t know what to do. His fear awakens his powers, his eyes redden and lightning shoots out, leaving the supervillain with severed limbs (Darth Vader-style in ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’) and her mother with the open neck in channel. The boy still does not control his strength, and, without wanting it, he has also murdered his mother. In his last seconds alive, Becca makes Butcher promise to take care of him. “It’s not his fault, make sure he knows,” she tells him. And we know that she will fulfill it.
Nevertheless, Patriota also appears, with a perfect ‘timing’. He sees Stormfront completely shattered and babbling things in German. He sees Becca dead, but he doesn’t care. And he sees his son Ryan aligning himself with Butcher and disowning him. When a tragedy is about to happen, Maeve reappears. Of course, she is the real hero of this entire episode. She tells him that if she kills them, she will post the famous video of the two of them abandoning dozens of people on a plane that is about to crash. That would end her popularity, which is what matters most to her: being loved. Also, her blackmail comes with more demands: leave Ella and Elena alone and not go after Starlight and her friends.
Patriota accepts all the conditions. We see him at an official Vought press conference where Stormfront (who is not dead, but in hiding in “an unknown location”) is denounced and blamed for the exploits in court. Thus, reverse the decision to commercialize Component V, claiming that it is no longer necessary. In the event we also see Maeve and Starlight (who wears her original costume, instead of the sexualized version that she was forced to wear when entering the company), who will continue to be part of The 7. So will A-Train, which is reinstated before the helpless face of The Deep (chace crawford), which will remain outside despite all its efforts together with the Church of the Collective.
The big reveal: who’s exploding heads?
Well, neither the Church of the Collective nor Stan Edgar nor Billy Butcher. The person responsible for the events of the seventh episode was none other than Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit).. The congresswoman, who works with the CIA to hold Vought’s superheroes accountable, also has powers, and we’re not sure in what direction she’s using them. This great revelation of the season finale occurs when she speaks on the phone with the head of the Church of the Collective, who proposes to exchange more dirty laundry of The 7 in exchange for pardoning the fiscal crimes of the organization. The congresswoman’s response? She blows his head off looking at him from outside her window.
What does this imply? It seems that Victoria Neuman is a Vought mole in the resistance. His actions speak for themselves: he killed the CIA agent who was going to help the protagonists, he killed Vogelbaum (and many others) when he was going to testify against Vought and now he has killed a guy who promised to get hurtful information about superheroes. In the absence of official confirmation, it seems that Neuman has worked from the beginning for Stan Edgar and that, in his current position, he can find out about all the plans that both the government and the group of Butcher and company have against the multi-million dollar company. A perfect plan, completed with Hughie going to his election campaign offices to ask him for a job and start getting things legally, and not with violence. Straight into the lion’s den.
And what about our boys? In a montage to the rhythm of ‘God only knows’ by The Beach Boys we see Mother Milk go home to her family, Frenchie and Mimiko go dancing, Hughie and Starlight continue their relationship, and Butcher leaves Ryan in the care of the CIA. In that meeting, precisely, Mallory (Laila Robins) reveals to him that an Office of Superhero Affairs has been officially formed. to closely follow Vought’s movements, and that he has enough budget to hire the group and continue working. Butcher doesn’t respond. Is that a yes or a no? He will have to wait to find out.
