Men run in high heels at the Pride event in Madrid

Dozens of people in high heels, mostly men, took part in a jog down a cobblestone street in the center of the Spanish capital on Thursday at a Pride event in Madrid, one of the world’s largest LGBT celebrations.

This was the 24th annual running in Chueca, a gay-friendly neighborhood that attracts competitors from abroad and is one of the most anticipated parts of the festival for the LGBT community.

Heels must be at least four inches high and shoes are measured before the race. Also, the participants have to take a bag with a dress along the way, and then apply lipstick to their lips. The winner gets 350 euros.

Madrid Gay Pride will reach its climax with a stop in the city center on Saturday.
