At this point, it’s no surprise: “The Boys” joins the list of series whose filming has recently been delayed due to the writers’ strike. For several months, American screenwriters’ unions have been picketing in front of Hollywood studios to defend their rights.
The movement has already been supported by many public figures, which will continue until the negotiations between the representatives of the trade unions and the majoritarians lead to an agreement considered satisfactory for both camps.
Extending this strike could have a devastating long-term impact on America’s entertainment economy and lead to a shortage of new content for platforms starting in 2024 due to a lack of new series.
As a direct result of this strike, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke announced that filming on the fourth season of the Amazon series will not begin as planned for the summer. It is questionable whether this season 4 will be broadcast on the platform for next year as well.
#Boys Update! 1) When #Season 4 Drops depend on how long #WGA The strike is on. There is no answer yet. Tell the studios to make a fair deal!
2) To take that stress away, here’s some fun art from S4. We spend hours laughing at this stuff and it’s never on screen. #TheBoysTV pic.twitter.com/t9nSGmou8Z

Despite the threat of a strike by the actors’ union, Hollywood studios will not be able to extend the stoppage of filming. Let’s hope an agreement is reached in the summer to secure better pay for the screenwriters and a gradual resumption of filming…
The first three seasons of The Boys are available now on Amazon Prime Video.
