As we know, Netflix wanted to create Witcherverse on its platform. So far, the platform has produced three seasons of The Witcher starring Henry Cavill, an animated film called The Wolf’s Nightmare (2021) and a prequel, Legacy of Blood. In four episodes of this mini-series, offered to subscribers in December 2022, the scriptwriters explained many very important things in the world imagined by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Ciri’s legacy
Whether you’re a fan of the books and video games or a neophyte to the universe, you definitely understand that the character of Ciri (Freya Allan) is very important. In the episodes, we learn that the princess of Sintra has an overwhelming power, the hen Ichaer (elder blood). She is indeed a direct descendant of Lara Doren, the first elf to receive this gift. His blood is ancient and attracts the passion of the North and the South. A prophecy revealed in the prequel tells us that a person carrying this genetic trait will cause the apocalypse.
Blood Legacy, as its name suggests, tells the story of the first elves and why they are forced to live on the fringes of society. The prequel also tells how the first Witcher came to be and explains what the Joining of the Realms is. A cataclysm 1500 years before Geralt’s birth caused several worlds to collide. Monsters and humans have invaded the Elven world, bringing fire and blood to their world.
Joining the realms and what it involves
Some people, gifted with known elder blood, have the ability to travel between worlds and time. As is Avallac’h, an elf familiar to fans of The Witcher who was properly introduced in the prequel. Interestingly, this character is seen in the post-credits scene when he travels back in time to follow Ciri to the present day.
We clearly understand that it is the Princess of Sintra who is the subject of the prophecy and that her role will be even more important in The Witcher Season 3. The new episodes should again feature Avallac’h, who has been added to the long list of people who want to monopolize his power.
