The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), said on Friday that he had agreed a concentrated effort with the Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad, to vote next week on three issues of extreme interest to the government: the project that resumes the tie-breaker vote in the CARF, the new tax framework and the tax reform.
The deputy also declared his intention to meet the college of leaders on Sunday to “define the guidelines”.
The plenary agenda includes a deliberative session on Monday – an unusual date for votes in Congress – and the proposal from the Board of Directors for Tax Appeals (CARF) is the first item on the list of issues to be analysed.
“I spoke today with Finance Minister Fernando Haddad to agree on the economic issues that the Chamber of Deputies will examine next week. Tax reform, Carf and tax framework are on the agenda that we want to pass. concentrated effort,” the Speaker tweeted.
“The Chamber of Deputies will continue its work to approve issues of interest to Brazil,” he published.
The project concerning Carf is being developed as an emergency and is blocking the agenda of the Chamber. Therefore, MEPs must win this proposal to move on to the others.
In the case of the framework, the vote is relatively simple, given that it is up to the Chamber to say “yes” or “no” to the changes promoted by the Senate in the text.
Tax reform is expected to take longer. Despite the unanimous sentiment on the need for its approval, there are points and adjustments that some sectors of the economy and bodies of the Federation do not like.
Earlier, shortly after the conversation with Lira, Haddad said the intention was to pacify the issues surrounding Carf.
“We are on track to overcome this problem,” Haddad told reporters, without elaborating, upon his return to the ministry.
