Stranger Things 4: Everyone forgot Will’s birthday … even the creators of the Netflix series!

These new episodes seem to indicate that Willie is also struggling to be fully with his loved ones and to show his homosexuality (and his love for Mike?). And the feeling of this exclusion is reinforced by the sad detail recorded by the fans and highlighted by Netflix.

In the second episode, when Willie, Mike (Finn Wolfhardt) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) go rolling in Rink-O-Mania. On the dance floor, Elven is harassed by Angela and filmed by her stalker friends. The camera dates back to March 22, 1986. You should know that March 22 is nothing but Will’s birthday, as we heard in the second season of the Netflix series.

Which means that his family and friends have completely forgotten about his birthday … Sad Will saw green and immature personalities upside down and in Hawkins and his entourage completely ignoring him, until he could not remember his birthday. This information is already quite sad, but especially when we know that the creators of the series have also forgotten!

Matt Duffer admitted in a recent interview variety : “The honest answer is obvious that like the show’s characters, we too have forgotten Will’s birthday. So now the debate is whether to fit Will’s birthday if we really miss this sad information.”

And his brother Ross Daphne fears the reaction from fans: “I almost wish you did not write our answer, because forgetting his birthday will cause us trouble with the fans (laughs). I wrote this date six years ago!”

During this interview, the Daphne brothers apologized for this mistake and explained that they had no one to verify this type of information:

“You know, George RR Martin has someone – I mean, his story is bigger – and Stephen King also has someone who tracks that kind of information? We need that kind of person. We don’t have it, so Ross and I, though. I do not have a good memory, I love Willie and I do not want people to think that we do not love Willie because we forgot – we want to! “

They also explain that they will be careful in the future – especially since they mentioned Dustin’s birthday this season 4 – and that they could change Will’s birthday to May 22nd. Birthday in season 2:

“Of course it means his mother forgot his birthday! It’s very bad. It was obviously a mistake and we are sorry about that. We apologize to the fans.”

Even if the brothers had a well-thought-out plan for Stranger Things for five seasons, fans could not help but look out for such details. But such a mistake is not surprising given the delays and delays in Season 4 of Stranger Things, which came three years after Season 3, due to the pandemic.
