Indiana Jones 5: The actor who plays the godfather of India created one of the best series of the decade

Fifteen years after the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana Jones is back for the final round. Despite being 80 years old, Harrison Ford is returning to work and saying goodbye to one of his most famous roles. Directed by James Mangold, the film is set in 1969 when an archeology professor is about to retire. But a surprise visit from his goddaughter Helena Shaw, who is looking for Archimedes’ famous dial, disrupts his plans.

In the role of the latter, we meet the British Phoebe Waller-Bridge, whose career did not indicate that she would be on the poster of one of the blockbusters of 2023.

Graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2006, he cut his teeth on stage in several productions at various theaters in London. She then founded the theater company DryWrite with her best friend Vicky Jones. At the same time, he also appears in several films and TV series, including Broadchurch. An actress unsuccessfully auditions for the role of one of the sisters in the hit series Downton Abbey, because her essay mocks the director in a dramatic scene.

In 2013, she launched her first one-woman show, Fleabag, was created at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it won a prize. He wrote his first series Crashing in 2016 for the BBC and based on that experience, he decided to adapt it for the stage for television.

In just two seasons and twelve episodes, Fleabag established itself as one of the most popular series of the 2010s. The actor plays a thirty-year-old Londoner who goes through one-night stands to forget the grief he’s going through. . Hilarious, biting and frustratingly humorous, this program allows the relatively unknown Phoebe Waller-Bridge to become one of the most outstanding actresses and screenwriters of the moment. Barack Obama himself lists Fleabag as one of his favorite shows of 2019.

The actor proves his talent and continues to rise for the BBC network in 2018 with Killing Eve, produced by BBC America. More detached this time, he creates, produces and writes this adaptation of the literary series Code name Villanelle By Luke Jennings. Based on the Sandra O’Jody Comer duo, the show features two atypical female characters and dusts off the spy thriller.

That same year, he voiced the droid L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story. As Fleabag ends after 2 seasons and Killing Eve begins its third episodes, Phoebe Waller-Bridge continues to showcase her talent in the shadows by producing Run, the HBO series created and written by her lifelong companion, Vicki Jones.

In 2019, he was approached by Daniel Craig to improve the script for Dying Can Wait, the twenty-fifth James Bond. For some time attached to the series Mr. and Mrs. Smith, who is coming off a film of the same name where he had to answer to Donald Glover, left the Prime Video project due to artistic differences. It won’t be long before 2021 joins Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which can be found in cinemas from Wednesday.

It was thanks to Harrison Ford, a big Fleabag fan, that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy approached him to take part in the adventure. Helena, India’s cheeky and brilliant goddaughter, is camping there. A key stakeholder still finds it hard to believe: “After Fleabag, my career changed: suddenly, you’re in the heat of the action. And then years go by, pandemics come, you’re doing Star Wars, you’re doing Indiana Jones. And everything becomes more and more unreal.” (Excerpt from the given interview Vanity Fair).

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s rise is far from over: she’s currently developing a Tomb Raider series adaptation for Prime Video.
