Louis CK is releasing a new movie and, in the process, is stepping up his efforts to get back into the mainstream industry.
Controversial comedians announced on their website on Friday that they are directing a new independent film, fourth of julyWhich will be showing at Select Theaters in July (trailer below).
CK co-wrote the film with comedian Joe Liszt, who faces a recovering jazz pianist and alcoholic in upstate New York who confronts his family on the 4th of July each year. CK says the film is self-funding and also plays the role of List Therapist. The film also stars comedians Sarah Tolemachi, Lynn Copley, Nick Di Paolo, Robert Kelly and Tony V.
“It was fun for me because the director and the movie were shot again,” CK wrote in an open letter to his fans. “In addition to the two scenes we filmed for the first time as Jeff’s therapist and managed to do, it was a great pleasure for me to film without acting for the first time in many years.
