One Piece: There will be two Luffys for the price of one in the Netflix series!

There are usually fans of VF and regulars of the original version, but the One Piece series can start a whole new trend. The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga hit Netflix on August 31, but a new feature film was revealed this weekend at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

After revealing the first trailer during Tudum a few weeks ago, the platform announced in a new video that the Japanese translators of the animated series One Piece will be reprising their roles due to dubbing in the live-action Japanese version.

In the Japanese version, which will therefore not be the original version as the series is filmed in English, Luffy will have his actual voice in the Netflix series, as anime fans who follow VO have known him for almost as long. A quarter of a century!

This feature film set the stage for a historic meeting between Inaki Godoi, who attributes his features to the monkey D. Luffy in the Netflix series and Mayumi Tanaka, the character’s seiyuu for 23 years! The passing of the torch, or rather the straw hat, was also done in connection with this promotional video (see below).

Note that this isn’t the first time Netflix has alerted anime fans, as the original Cowboy Bebop voice actors have also reprized their roles for the live-action dubbed version. Japanese.

A series that not only left bad memories for the fans, but also for the platform that canceled the show in its first season!
