Rebel Moon originated as a film for the “Star Wars” franchise, says Zack Snyder

One of the biggest investments in Netflix this year, science fiction rebel moon emerged as an offshoot to the franchise Star Warsin George Lucas. Zack Snyder revealed in an interview with the magazine empire that the idea came up while he was talking about developing a feature for the franchise, in 2012, as soon as Disney had acquired Lucasfilm.

The sale had just taken place. There was a window there where nobody knew what was possible, you know? I came to the meeting and said, ‘I don’t want any of your characters. I don’t want to do anything with figures that the public would recognize. I want to make my own story’

“Originally, I still told them, ‘I think it’s going to be an R-rated movie!’ let me do what I wanted,” he added snyder. The film, of course, never came to be developed.

rebel moon tells the story of a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruler named Balisarius. The people, desperate for salvation, send a mysterious girl (Sofia Boutella) to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to aid them in battle.‎
