Tom Cruise never gives up
Present in Sydney for the Australian premiere of Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1Tom Cruise poured up the future of the franchise which he has been wearing since 1996. Having become a superstar thanks largely to these films which has so far brought quite a bit of $3.5 billion at the worldwide box office, his Ethan Hunt character entered the pantheon of great movie heroes. It is for this reason that during this premiere, in the observations reported by The Sydney Morning Heraldthe actor and producer reacted to the comparison made with Harrison Ford, who has just hung up his whip and hatIndiana Jonesafter 42 years of good and faithful service.
It can, like Harrison Ford, hold Mission Impossible until the age of 80? Tom Cruise answered yes.
Harrison Ford is a legend. I hope I can continue, it will take me 20 years to achieve it. I hope I can make “Mission: Impossible” movies up to his age!

Mission Impossible 7: Tom Cruise “terrified” the film crew
A longevity record in sight?
If we leave aside the television series, where actors and actresses can more easily hold their role for several decades, Harrison Ford co-holds the longevity record for the incarnation of a character in the cinema. A double record also, since he each played Han Solo and Indiana Jones over a 42-year period, from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in 1977 a Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 and Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 a Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in 2023. Only Sylvester Stallone has reached the same milestone with the Rocky movies.

If Tom Cruise were to play the role of Ethan Hunt until he was 80 – he’s currently 61 – and knowing he took on the role in 1996, his incarnation of the character would span 46 years old. It would thus surpass Harrison Ford and Sylvester Stallone on this point of longevity. However, Tom Cruise hasn’t said he’ll be Ethan Hunt until he’s 80, but he’s hoping make movies Mission Impossible up to that age. So is it the actor and performer who spoke, or the producer of the saga?
Either way, he’s still in enough shape to play his role and pull together stunts for several years as it proves Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 (our review here), to find out the July 12th At Cinema.
