Can we doubt The Witcher is set to return for Season 3, which is also Henry Cavill’s last? The British actor is back on Netflix for Swan Song as Geralt de Rive, before Liam Hemsworth is cast in The Witcher. The third season of The Witcher is split into two parts, with the first coming to Netflix on Thursday, June 29, and the second later this month.
And even without a full season, that didn’t stop The Witcher from climbing to the top of Netflix’s famous Top 10 in the series category. Thus, Lauren Schmidt Hisrich’s series takes the top spot among English-language series with 15.2 million views in just four days. The study week lasts from June 26 to July 2.
Fans also watched the first season this week with 2.2 million views. Black Mirror, which was number one last week, dropped to second place with 5.4 million views, followed by documentary series Catching Killers Season 3 with 4.1 million views and Glamorous in fourth place with 3.5 million views. These are, of course, international figures.
Other films on the list include Our Planet Season 2 – which failed to reach the top spot in France – and My First Time. Another docuseries, American Gladiators: When TV Did Its Circus — also unremarkable by us — debuted in eighth place with 2.8 million viewers.
In this update of Netflix’s top 10 most-watched TV series list, The Witcher unsurprisingly leads the platform, which is no surprise given the popularity of the show since its inception. Fans were clearly eager for the next chapter in Geralt’s story, and they flocked to Netflix to watch the new episodes. See you on July 27th for the second batch of episodes.
