Tonight on TV: I’ll Go to Sleep With You, Movie!

Passionate about travel, expeditions and discoveries, Antoine de Maxime is also a man of images. First a sound engineer, then a director of many animal and science documentaries, he created the series in 2004. I will sleep at your house.

The concept is unique: Antoine de Maxime films there alone, using several cameras, trying to sleep with the locals. These whimsical and completely improvised travel diaries, shot in more than 60 countries, have made him known to the general public.

Based on this concept, Antoine de Maxime directs the feature film I Sleep in Hollywood, in which he crosses the United States alone. The film, which was released in cinemas in 2008, was nominated for César in the category of the best documentary film.

Persisting in this regard, Antoine de Maxime then made his first feature film. Titled I’ll Die in the Carpathians, it mixes several influences: firstly, the episode I will sleep at your house Filmed in Romania, Globuster was characterized by the gap between large cities and rural areas; but also the mythology that surrounds this famous Eastern European mountain range; Finally, the films Blow Up and Blow Out, in which the mystery is solved thanks to photographs or sounds.

That’s why Antoine de Maxime finds himself in the Carpathians, where he gets into a car accident and disappears. Most of his luggage was found, including his DV tapes.

In Paris, Agnes (Alice Paul), his usual editor, decides to watch the 40-hour races he has filmed. He quickly suspects something fishy and leads the investigation with the help of an atypical cop (Max Bublil). This hilarious invitation to travel between thriller, comedy and mockumentary undoubtedly shines with its originality.
