Since the launch of Secret invasionMarvel series for Disney+, fans have been speculating about which Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) heroes might be the Skrulls, and this speculation appears to be well founded.
So, discovering that Agent Ross (played by Martin Freeman) was one of Gravik’s (played by Kingsley Ben-Adir) undercover was a thrill in the series premiere. And now, in the episode “Betrayed”, Secret invasion goes further by involving the sole hero of the plot – James Rhodes (played by Don Cheadle), War Machine.
It’s important to remember that all is not as it seems Secret invasionand therefore the public should remain wary of this conclusion.
However, if we hypothetically assume that this is true, he would be the disruptive element, the one that causes more doubts than certainties in the minds of Fury and his companions.
This would be an interesting adaptation, albeit on a smaller scale, as it would give more prominence to a character who has long been in Iron Man’s shadow. Perhaps this could also be a seed for Armored warsthe movie that comes next Secret invasion.
However, it seems more likely that Varra is just a cog in Rhodes’ game to find out who the Skrull infiltrating the US government is, rather than proof that he’s playing for the opposing team. And the justification is simple: if he really wanted to ensure Fury’s failure, why did he reject him?
Certainly, Secret Invasion will bring answers to these questions in the next episode, since it is now customary in the series to explain the hook of the previous episode at the very beginning of the next one. Until then, with another possible threat to the Avengers, it’s getting harder and harder to believe in a human victory in the war against the Skrulls.
