Asterix and Obelix Mission Cleopatra: A surprise awaits you at the end of the credits!

Asterix and Obelix Mission Cleopatra: A surprise awaits you at the end of the credits!

21 and a half years after its initial release (and its 14.4 million hits!), the Asterix Alain Chabat version was released everywhere in France this Wednesday, July 5, for a single price of €5.

In addition to this attractive price, another good surprise awaits the audience. For the 2023 version of Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, Alain Chabat found some bonus scenes that you can discover at the end of the credits! So don’t leave the seat before all the credits roll or you’ll miss the new pictures, or almost!

Do not continue reading the article if you want to keep the surprise completely.

If you stay until the end of the film, you will be able to discover 4 minutes of very rarely seen footage. The sequence opens with a video of Alain Chabat in a pyramid setting, torch in hand, introducing the upcoming sequence, “Bonus Scenes”. We get to see Omar and Fred for the first time in a deleted scene where they draw hieroglyphs and exchange numbers with Bi (Jamel). Then we get to see Otis’ (Edward Baer) monologue in its uncut version. A version that was recently released in preview on the show Beau Geste.

Thanks so much for sticking around so far, time to go” begins Alain Chabat, again in the pyramid setting, to close this sequence of gifts for the audience to wait for the last second of the credits.

Ultimate Alain Chabat fans will probably note that these deleted scenes were already available on the DVD collector’s edition of the film. The Collector’s Double DVD is now on sale. We also hope that this release and restoration of the film will be the subject of a new DVD/Blu-ray box set, with these bonuses and more!

Finally, let’s highlight the exceptional quality of the 4K restoration work on the film. Watching or re-watching the film on the big screen with this rendering allows you to see the attention to detail brought to you by Alain Chabat.

A release that appeals to viewers, as evidenced by this roundup of tweets:

Still on the topic of re-releases and Asterix, note that Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar, the first film in the saga directed by Claude Zid, will be released in a restored version on DVD/Blu-ray combo on September 27, 2023. .

As for Asterix and Obelix: Middle Empire, the latest installment in the Asterix saga and dismissed as a cinematic failure by Guillaume Canet, DVD/Blu-Ray is now available.
