Family robbery
The summer season has officially begun on Netflix with its crazy comedies! Latest: Tyler Spindel’s Gangsters by Alliance (Father of the Year), available today on the platform. A WTF heist movie, this feature film written by Evan Turner (The Goldbergs) and Ben Zazow (Sherlock Gnomes) tells a completely crazy family story.
The life of bank branch manager Owen Browning (Adam Devine) is organized and happy. Nothing could upset his balance, especially after he proposed to the love of his life, Parker McDermott (Nina Dobrev).
But that was without counting Parker’s parents, Billy (Pierce Brosnan) and Lily McDermott (Ellen Barkin). The arrival of this eccentric and mysterious couple oddly coincides with a bank robbery by the notorious “Ghost Bandis” that leaves Owen traumatized.
He then suspects that his future relatives were thugs. By the time he learns the truth, it’s too late. Parker is kidnapped by his parents’ enemies, and Owen is forced to team up with Billy and Lily to pull off another heist to save Parker.
Mixing action, comedy and heist always goes well together and this feature film produced by Adam Sandler is no exception by embracing all the effective codes of this movie genre to turn it into a family adventure.
Alliance Gangsters is not revolutionary in any way, as its plot is quite ordinary, the expected twists and characters are quite stereotypical. But the film has the intelligence not to stretch its story (it’s 1 hour!), to fully play the entertainment card with enjoyable action scenes, a cast that gives it their all, and a soundtrack that perfectly captures this adventure, calibrated for a Netflix night. with family or friends.
Gangsters by Alliance is available on Netflix.
