To rid themselves of their demons once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and his son Dalton (Tye Simpkins) must delve deeper into the distant past to confront their family’s dark past, and even more disturbing spirits lurk behind the red door. .
It is the third film in the franchise that follows the Lambert family after the two prequels released in 2015 (Insidious: Chapter 3) and 2018 (Insidious: The Last Key) focused on the character of Elise, interpreted by Lin Shaye.
Directed by James Wan, the first film, which was released in 2011, was a real surprise for fans of horror cinema. On a budget of $1.5 million, the film grossed $99 million worldwide and has a press rating of 3.2/5 stars and an audience rating of 3.5/5 stars on AlloCiné. The worst movie of the saga is…
According to AlloCiné viewership ratings, it does Insidious: The Last Key by Adam Robitaille, released in 2018, is the worst installment of the horror franchise with an audience rating of 2.5/5 out of 2070 and a press rating of 2.3/5 stars.
A prequel to the first two films, The Last Key focuses on the character of Elise. A brilliant parapsychologist is faced with the most terrifying and personal case of his history: he must intervene in his childhood home. With its many flashbacks, the film retraces the journey of the medium found in the first films of the saga.
The film takes place before the events of the first film and ends with Lorraine Lambert, Josh’s mother, calling her grandson Dalton, who is stranded far away, to help Lisa.
Some regret James Wan and his inventive staging, for others the film has nothing to do with the Insidious saga, and some Internet users condemn the overly simplistic script.
With the return of the main cast from the first two installments and the conclusion of the narrative arc of Josh and Dalton’s story, will Insidious: The Red Door be the fourth film in the saga? To be continued…
