Mission Impossible 7: This character returns after 27 years, here’s what you need to know about him

In 1996, the first movie that was a profitable saga for the Paramount studio was released on our screens: Mission Impossible. In this installment, Ethan Hunt and his team had to prevent an enemy spy from stealing a diskette containing a secret list of agents in Central Europe.

Almost 30 years later, Tom Cruise continues to amaze us with impossible stunts and working behind the scenes to prevent the worst disasters.

Die-hard fans of the Mission Impossible franchise will recognize actor Henry Cherny, who played Eugene Kittridge in the first installment, in the Dead Reckoning trailers. The latter was then the director of the Monetary Fund.

After accusing Ethan Hunt of treason and killing all his team members, he disappeared from Mission Impossible’s radars and cameras.

What does the return of Kittridge mean?

Bringing this important character back into the world is no small feat. (spoiler alert) After the death of Alan Hanley (Alec Baldwin), who became the secretary of the IMF from Mission Impossible 6, the seat was left vacant. No doubt Kittridge wanted to return to the front of the stage to pilot the capsule, even if his intentions were unclear.

It remains to be seen whether director Christopher McQuarrie will explain the absence of this character and whether the reunion with Ethan Hunt will be explosive.

A ghost from the past

The main antagonist of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 is played by Esai Morales (Gabriel), a mysterious character, but his interest is that he is connected to Ethan Hunt’s past. Even before he became a spy.

After nearly 30 years of criss-crossing the globe and escaping death every 6 months, viewers will learn a little more about our hero and his reason for joining the IMF.

Gabriel’s character promises to be especially terrifying, especially since he doesn’t work alone. This is clearly the most difficult task for Hunt and his team, so McQuarrie decided to split his film into two parts. The first part will be released on July 12. The sequel is expected on June 26, 2024.
