Warner Bros. released on Tuesday (11) the first official trailer of Wonkaprequel to The Fantastic Chocolate Factory. The film features Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka, a character played by Gene Wilder in 1971 and Johnny Depp in the 2005 remake.

In addition to Chalamet and Grant, Wonka also has Sally Hawkins (The shape of water), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. BeanOlivia ColmanThe favourite), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Matthew Bayton (Ghosts), Simon Farnaby (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (padton 2), Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon), Matthew Lucas (Doctor who), Natasha Rothwell (The White Lotus) and Rakhee Thakrar (Sex education).

Based on the work of Roald Dahl, The Fantastic Chocolate Factory from 1971 told the story of Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), a simple boy who, by finding a golden ticket in a bar of chocolate, wins the chance to visit Willy Wonka’s famous and ‘fantastic’ chocolate factory. With him, four other children embark on a journey full of fantasy and adventure.

While the original wasn’t a huge financial success, the film received Oscar nominations and quickly became popular. The arrival of the 2005 remake, directed by none other than Tim Burton, consolidated the success of the production by earning more than 450 million dollars and finally taking home an Oscar (best costume design). The remake also earned Depp a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical.
