Marvel Studios announced on Sunday (5th) an official date for the arrival of “I Am Groot” on Disney +. The new series, centered on one of the most beloved – and cuddly – characters of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” gang, also won a very fun and ‘relaxing’ poster.
First scheduled for August 10, “I Am Groot” follows Baby Groot after 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”, when the character “is born” and becomes a baby again. Directed by Kisten Lepore, the series will contain ten animated episodes “following the glory days of Baby Groot growing up and getting into trouble among the stars,” according to the Marvel synopsis.
“I Am Groot” was officially announced in 2020 and will be the character’s first solo content, as well as being the first of the “Guardian” members to win a series. A short teaser for the show was revealed this year at Disney’s 2022 Shareholders’ Meeting. In the one-second snippet, Groot is shown watching a green woman that fans have come to bet is She-Hulk (who also has received a trailer for their new series recently).

James Gunn, writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, will be the producer of the new series and Vin Diesel, who voices the character in the films, will also return as the voice of Groot. It is worth mentioning that the third and final film with the original Guardians cast will only premiere on May 5, 2023.
In addition to the series, Groot is still expected to appear in “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” and “Thor: Love and Thunder”, set to be released on July 7 in Brazil.
