A serious accident occurred at the intersection of the BR-158 and BR-468 highways, known as “trevão”, in Palmeira das Missões, in the northwest of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The accident involved a Duster vehicle, driven by Lieutenant Portela at Erebango, and a trailer headed for Rio Grande.
According to the Federal Traffic Police (PRF), the Duster vehicle was hit by the trailer, resulting in a violent collision. An infant in the car was thrown from the vehicle and had to be resuscitated by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the side of the road. Three other people who were in the vehicle were sent to the Hospital de Caridade de Palmeira das Missões, but there is no information on their health. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The road was temporarily closed, but was reopened a few hours after the accident. Unfortunately, the driver of the Duster vehicle was treated, but ended up dying in hospital. The identity of the victim has not been released. The exact circumstances of the accident are still being investigated by the relevant authorities.
