Netflix: Top Series #3 is the nugget we needed!

The Law of the Strongest is Netflix’s newest comedy. It is based on a test Survival of the fittestMichelle Bhutto, co-creator and star of the show.

She plays Mavis Beaumont, a tall black woman who seems to have it all. A good job, a good life, a long-term boyfriend who’s still in love… until he’s caught cheating with a model.

One might fear that the series will fall into the somewhat stereotypical model of a fat girl who sinks into depression and is full of complexes. But fortunately, this is not the case.

It would be too easy to give in to the cheating girl cliché because her physique doesn’t measure up to current standards. Instead, The Law of the Strongest uses Mavis’s toughest moments to empower and teach some admittedly harsh but life-saving lessons.

The focus on positivity and inclusivity was important to Michelle Bhutto, who has long spoken out against the lack of roles for tall women in Hollywood, particularly in romantic comedies.

He explains that he was always limited to the role of the best friend and that we never thought of him as the main actor. The real invisibility of a large number of women.

“Growing up, I loved TV and movies and always wanted more representation. But I realized that it was not so. It’s a bit like people who don’t even know they have celiac disease. We think, well, I guess I’m just suffering” he explains.

But this is the first time he has bagged the lead role in his own romantic comedy. Although it took him years to get there, he says the opportunity at this point in his career helped him make the series the way he wanted it to be.
