Guys: 10 references to Marvel and DC superheroes in the Prime Video series

A satirical work of superhero works, the Prime Video series for boys focuses on characters with superhuman abilities, reminiscent of the most famous members of Marvel’s Avengers or DC’s Justice League, but with far less honorable, albeit uniquely evil, versions. Who inspires Homelander, The Deep or the new Soldier Boy? We tell you everything!
Homelander mentions Superman
From his powers of what he represents to the American people, the leader of the seven, the Homelander (protector in VF), fits the leader in every way. Justice League, Superman (Henry Cavill). Except that Anthony Starr’s character hides what it really is: a scary monster that is far removed from the impeccable Clark Kent.
Queen Maeve refers to Wonder Woman
It’s hard not to see the similarities between Queen Mays (Dominic McEligott) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), starting with their rather similar costumes starting with the swords! Two characters also originated in ancient mythology, the Greek for Wonder Woman and the Irish for Maeve.
Deep touches the aquamarine
The deep or fish man in VF is obviously a parody of Aquaman. Like the DC character played by Jason Momoa in the movies, Chase Crawford’s character can relate to underwater creatures. Namor has the equivalent capabilities in Marvel.
Starlight refers to Stargirl
She is one of the few superheroes from The Boys who is on the good side, the innocent starlight (Stella in VF, camped by Erin Moriarty) has a temperament and appearance very similar to that of Stargirl, DC superhero interpreted by Brec Bassinger. A series dedicated to him on the CW. In contrast, its forces are closer to those of the Marvel Vega and Aurora twins. Starlight is sometimes compared to Mary Marvel as well as Lady Shazam.
Black Noir refers to Batman
Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) possesses martial arts and stealth, skills that are close to some of the Batman skills we just saw in the movie as Robert Pattinson. In other ways, such as his enhanced feelings and his ability to heal, Black Noir may be associated with the super-evil Deathstroke.
Kimiko refers to the X-23
Kimiko, played by Karen Fukuhara, is one of the few characters in the series who has power but does not work for Vought. A member of The Boys, he has a wild side and can carry out violent attacks. More dangerous than it looks, Kimiko reminds you of the X-23, the “daughter” of Wolverine, who appears in Logan in the form of a laurel wreath.
Soldier Boy refers to Captain America
Introduced with great fanfare this season, Soldier Boy is a twisted version of Captain America (Chris Evans). Not as revered as his Marvel counterpart, Jensen Eccles, this character has several scenes that are directly inspired by the MCU in the series, as trailers have revealed.
Stormfront refers to a tornado
Presented in Season 2 of the series, Stormfront (Aya Cash) has a costume and powers that are very reminiscent of Tornado (Storm, VO), the famous mutant played by Halle Berry in X-Men movies. Xavier’s protégé does not even share the Nazi ideology of the former!
A-Train refers to Quicksilver and Flash
The title of World Fastest Man in The Boys was originally awarded to A-Train (Jessie T. Usher). Awarded the title in Quicksilver (Vif-Argent, VF) in the Marvel universe, played by Aaron Taylor Johnson. DC also has its equivalent in the person of Flash (Ezra Miller in movies or Grant Gastin in TV). The two characters are a source of inspiration for A-Train.
The crimson countess references the Scarlet Magician
In her scarlet costume, Crimson Countess (Lori Holden), a newcomer to the season, is clearly reminiscent of Scarlett the Magician, a character well known to MCU fans where she is played by Elizabeth Olsen. He played a particularly important role in Marvel’s latest play, Dr. Strange in the Madness Version.
