It’s the hit of the moment on Netflix: Fatal Seduction is a new erotic series available on Netflix. Created by Stephen Pillemer, Damilola Elbe and Sydney Deere, this gritty South African thriller has all the makings of a genre that is ultra-popular on the streaming service.

Not recommended for children under 16, Fatal Seduction tells the story of the torrid romance between Nandi (Kgomotso Christopher), a law professor, and a young student named Jacob (Prince Grootboom), who meet during a holiday weekend with his best friend Brenda (Lunathi Mampofu).

But Nandi quickly realizes that Jacob is hiding dark secrets that will put her life and that of her prosecutor husband Leonard (Tapelo Mokoena) in danger. Especially since Brenda is inexplicably murdered and Vuyo (Nat Rambulana), Leonard’s detective brother, is suspicious of Jacob…

Fatal Seduction is another box set remake on Netflix

Combining a forbidden romance with a twist-filled investigation delivered by a charismatic cast, Fatal Seduction had a strong case for winning over a large number of Netflix subscribers. And it didn’t fail as the South African series was the first to watch on the platform for ten days.

If you enjoyed Fatal Seduction, you might be reminded of another hit from the streaming service. And it’s okay! You should know that the South African series is actually a remake of the Mexican series Sombre Désir.

This two-season play tells the story of how Alma (Maite Perron), a young married woman, loses her leg when she begins an adulterous relationship with Dario (Alejandro Sepitzer), a young man who is completely obsessed with her.

This is not the first time that South Africa has adapted foreign TV series. Before Fatal Seduction, the country put together its version of the Turkish series L’Ombre de Fatma with a remake called Stealth.
