You don’t really know the Zom 100 manga, written by Haro Aso and illustrated by Kotaro Takata, but you will discover its cheeky world and its charming protagonist through the live-action adaptation that Netflix will soon offer to its subscribers. The trailer of the film, which was released a few hours ago, gives a good overview.
We follow the bleak everyday life of a young man troubled by the arrival of the zombie apocalypse. Seeing that he no longer needs to work in the office, he survives the attack and makes a list of 100 things to do before turning into the living dead.
Quite a nice pitch for a manga that has had a following since its release in 2018. If on paper or in pictures, Zom 100 is nothing original, zombies are still popular on television. It’s enough to make it a summer hit with its lighthearted tone and sassy side. Let’s also take into account that the seinen is written by Haro Aso, who we owe to Alice in Wonderland, again adapted by Netflix, but this time in a TV series. And the success was there.
Fans are quite happy with the various promo images for now. What will reconcile manga fans with the live-action adaptations and Netflix expected at the end of the summer? The platform will indeed add the first season of One Piece to its catalog on August 31st, one of the most expensive productions.
