Marvel: Did you know this Black Widow character in Secret Invasion?

Of all the characters in the Marvel movies and series that have appeared before, Secret Invasion audiences expected to finally meet Captain Marvel, who has been associated with Nick Fury since the first solo film. Or maybe the Avenger, played by Samuel L. Jackson, explaining the lack of a synopsis this week “It’s a personal matter (…) they can’t protect the world like me.”

The final episode, the fifth of six in this first and probably only season, has a cameo. And few expected the return of this character… what many expected to even forget: Rick Mason, a Black Widow employee who O.T. Fagbenle stars in Marvel’s film of the same name, which is set for a summer 2021 release.

After becoming independent, Nick Fury, wanted by Interpol, is called to go to Finland on a private jet to pick up some things. And this is not so surprising, because Rick Mason is a former agent of SHIEL.D., who therefore worked for Samuel L. At the behest of the character performed by Jackson after the first Iron Man.

Admittedly, his appearance is brief and limited to this brief scene, which doesn’t indicate the character’s immediate future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the presence delighted and surprised several fans.

As this recent internet user points out, Kate Shortland’s feature film, the first to be part of Phase IV of the MCU, has already been mentioned a while back. In episode 3, during a flashback to Nick Fury and his wife Priscilla (Charline Woodard) in 1998.

The letter contained information “Can bring Drake’s people to their knees”In reference to the Black Widow villain played by Ray Winstone opposite Scarlett Johansson. But the connection between this character and the series broadcast on Disney + is still not clear.
