AlloCiné: Tell us about your first day on the set of Fire of Love…

Michael Morgan: I arrived early because I had a meeting with the casting director at that time. Waiting for him, I sneaked into the sets. I remember feeling this feeling of being in my place. I grew up a fan of the show, so being here and watching it live gave me peace. There were so many familiar things on set… I thought I was where I was supposed to be.

Your first hero of The Young and the Restless, Hilary, is dead. Were you sad about his death?

And really! After five years in the same character’s shoes, I was able to see his entire career… When he came down, I was told, “We don’t know what to do with Hillary!“They knew how to play it, but it was up to me how I played it. It took work because it was nasty! (Laughs) So I looked for his humanity to make it lighter and funnier.

You left the show after Hillary disappeared. Was it your decision to leave?

It was a personal decision. I was there for five years, and this length of time corresponds to the work of actors in general. Then we move on. I was given this amazing opportunity to create Hilary and became pregnant with my second child. Then I felt the need for a break.

I also wanted to let everyone know what it’s worth. It is very important for actors and those who work in our industry. I was impressed and saddened when the soap opera Les Feux de l’amour called me a year after I left. We said: “We see your value and know your passion for playing characters, so we want to give you this new role“. I’ll be back soon!

Amanda searches for answers in her biological family’s past. What will happen?

Amanda is on her way! He didn’t want to touch this part of his heart for a long time. He was afraid of rejection. He was placed with foster families, so abandonment is a big problem for him. But now that she’s opened Pandora’s box, I can’t imagine her going back! That’s it: he wants to know the truth.

Will Amanda keep the secrets of this new family?

A little bit of both! Amanda offers love and support, but a little digging reveals secrets… and she wants to know everything! She wants her family to live in reality and think about the mistakes of the past… Amanda will do anything for that.

(laughs) Yes, absolutely. They are different in terms of personality, but also very similar. They had the same childhood and grew up surrounded by very successful people. I think they can converge in these aspects…

What about William (Jason Thompson), with whom Amanda is close?

There will always be something. Their friendship is very deep, they understand each other and have a great bond. Whatever happens, this link will be there. They want to support each other the best they can. At this point, it’s just about friendship. He doesn’t want to complicate things between William and Victoria, for example. To show that feelings will appear in the future, but no longer exist today.

Lily (Christel Khalil, who shared her memories of the shoot) Will she like Amanda or hate her like Hillary?

Everything will be fine between them…because Amanda isn’t nasty like Hilary! (laughs) Besides, Amanda didn’t sleep with Lily’s father, Neil, and she wouldn’t cheat on him either! Also, I think Lily blames herself for Hilary’s death. This will help them get closer.

Which of the twin sisters do you like the most?

Evil Hillary! He was very funny. I’m never like him, I filter everything so I don’t hurt anyone. Hilary was witty and funny, I loved playing her!

You’ve long embarrassed Christophe St. John (who died in 2019) on the set of Fire of Love. What memory do you have of it?

We were friends, he was a very nice person. He encouraged everyone who came among us. He was one of those people who made me feel. I couldn’t have been on this show for so long without him. He lit up our set. He told us not to take it too seriously, we’re not saving lives! He was the perfect example of this mindset every day. I miss.
