‘Interview with the Vampire’ Gets Season 2 Teaser

AMC Networks has released a poster and teaser for ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Season 2. The preview continues the narration of the work of the writer Anne Rice, highlighting the replacement of the interpreter of the teenage vampire Claudia and the introduction of the Théâtre des Vampires.

Actress Delainey Hayles (“Holby City”) was cast in March to replace Bailey Bass, who played the show’s female lead in season one.

The story follows the interview of the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, who recounts his life with his creator Lestat de Lioncourt to a journalist. The first season was well received by critics and the series was renewed even before the premiere, in October last year.

The 1976 book had already been adapted for the screen as the film “Interview with the Vampire” in 1994. But the series undergoes some radical changes, including the time and the race of the protagonists.

Vampire Louis, played by Brad Pitt in the films, is now inhabited by Jacob Anderson (known for living the warrior Gray Worm in “Game of Thrones”), while Sam Reid (“The Hunting”) brings to life Tom Cruise’s character Lestat in the 1994 film.

In the book, as well as the film, the storyline is set in New Orleans during the 18th century, while in the series adaptation, Louis’ narrative takes place in the early 20th century, during the Jazz Age. Coincidentally, it’s also the same time as HBO’s new version of “Perry Mason,” developed by the same creator, Rolin Jones.

In addition to writing, Jones shares production lead with Mark Johnson, who worked on Breaking Bad and its derivative Better Call Saul, and Christopher Rice, son of writer Anne Rice, who died in December 2021.

The horror series had been filming in Prague since April, but Hollywood strikes halted production last week. Therefore, there are no preview predictions for the new chapters, only the expectation of a 2024 release.

Along with the adaptation of “Interview with the Vampire”, AMC also released “The Mayfair Witches”, which is part of the same supernatural universe as Ann Rice.
