The American pay channel AMC has released the first teaser of “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live”, a spin-off of the zombie series centered on the characters Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). The preview shows Michonne sword in hand chasing Rick.
The spin-off series will have six episodes and will show the journey of Michonne – who left “The Walking Dead” in 2020, in the middle of the tenth season – after Rick, when she discovers that she survived the explosion seen in her last appearance in the main series.
Since then, Rick’s fate has remained unknown and there are no clues as to what happened after he was imprisoned by the Civic Republic Militia (CRM), a ruthless and heavily armed army seen in more detail in ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’.
Scott M. Gimple is the showrunner of the new series, which will have Lincoln and Gurira as producers.
The series does not yet have a premiere date, but is expected to release in 2024.
In addition to her, the network has developed two other spin-offs of “The Walking Dead”: one focused on the duo Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeff Dean Morgan), currently airing in the US, and another on Daryl (Norman Reedus), which debuts on September 10th.
