When the director of one of the most influential action sagas of the past decade teams up with the creators of some of the best anime ever produced… You’re Not Dreaming is the dream duo brought together by Lazarus, a new animated series coming soon to Adult Swim.
Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo series creator Shin’ichirô Watanabe was indeed on hand at Comic-Con in San Diego to reveal the first images of his brand new creation.
The anime titled Lazarus is set in the near future of 2052, a world where all forms of violence have disappeared thanks to a secret serum. Its designer, Dr. Skinner, nevertheless reveals that the vaccine he created actually hides a poison that will kill all vaccinated patients within three years…
For this new series, Shinichiro Watanabe teamed up with American director Chad Stahelski, who is responsible for directing the action sequences of the program. Or Fair Return, the latter revealed to be inspired by… Cowboy Bebop created the climax of John Wick 4 .
MAPPA studio (Attack on Titan, JuJutsu Kaisen…) will be responsible for the project’s animation, and jazz musicians Kamasi Washington, Floating Points and Bonobo will be signing the anime’s original soundtrack.
The animated series is expected to air in 2024 on Adult Swim, available on the Amazon Prime Video platform with a Warner Pass subscription!
