Universal Pictures released another trailer for “Minions 2: Origin of Gru” on Tuesday (7). The new film, which serves as a prequel to the “Despicable Me” franchise, will show the supervillain’s origin story, revealing how he met his iconic Minions.
Directed by Kyle Balda (from “Minions” 2015), the film is set in the 1970s, when Gru was still only 12 years old. Oscar nominee Steve Carell will voice the lead character alongside Taraji P. Henson, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Russell Brand, Michelle Yeoh and Julie Andrews.
“Minions 2: The Origin of Gru” will be released in theaters across Brazil on June 30th.
2015’s “Minions” grossed no less than $ 1 billion at the box office, reaching a milestone in the history of cinema. The franchise is one of the most critically and fan-acclaimed and, once launched, was considered a major entry into the animation market, which is still on the rise, much like the cinema adaptations of classic video game series.
And speaking of animations, recently a new adaptation has taken over on social networks and on the pages of film critics. Disney + “Tico and Teco: Defenders of the Law” won the hearts of fans, and the got an exclusive interview with the film’s writers, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand.
The showrunners are known for their work in comedy series such as “How I Met Your Mother”, the characters Tico and Teco, and the late 1980s series “Tico and Teco: Defenders of the Law”, which inspired the new movie. See the full report here!
