Onlyfans talks about increasing the platform and giving Netflix a nudge

According to information from CNBCKeily Blair, director of strategy and operations at Onlyfans, said the company known for serving the adult entertainment industry today pays creators $ 18 million in a single day and, unlike Netflix, is not ” going through a slowdown “.

Despite the subtle nudge received at a conference, Onlyfans subscription service chief financial officer Lee Taylor highlighted the market and business differences between the two platforms. According to the executive, OnlyFans has a “completely different business model” to Netflix, which is “competing in a very saturated market” and currently fierce, referring to streaming movies and series.

Netflix announced in April this year that it had lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022. The decline was the first in 10 years, prompting the company to come up with cheaper, ad-funded plans.

Streaming has also recently fired employees, and will most likely be firing more, as the platform announced that it will reduce production of original films, which could lead to fewer features and, as a result, more cuts.

“We are aware of the cost of living crisis. [e por isso] We are putting together a team in the UK to help our creators maximize their earnings, ”added Taylor of the Onlyfans plan.

Blair added that the reason the team attended the conference was to address the “misconceptions” about the brand and “take control” of its own narrative.

In 2021, OnlyFans faced intense backlash from its users over the decision to ban pornography, a policy that was overturned days later. According to Taylor, the “time was challenging” and the uprising of subscribers and content creators came as a surprise to the platform. “What I am most proud of is the speed with which we were able to reverse the situation.”

With over 130 million paying users, Onlyfans has funded over $ 4.5 billion for its creators. Sexual content is estimated to make up the majority of these subscriptions.
