Carolyn Blackwood leaves Warner Bros. in the midst of an ongoing concussion –

The CEO of Warner Bros. Motion Pictures Group, Carolyn Blackwood, steps down.

It was universally expected that he would go to Blackwood after Warner Bros., Discovery’s new owner, announced last week that Toby Emerick, the head of the movie studio, his boss and longtime confidant, would step down.

The CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav wants a fresh start and has used Michael de Luca and Pamela Abdi to run Warner and New Line once Amazon releases them from MGM contracts.

Emerick, who has been at the helm of Warner since 2017 after a long stint at New Line, will sign a production deal with Warner Bros. with Discovery.

Blackwood was at Warners and worked with Emerick for 23 years, starting at New Line. When Emerick was promoted to head of production, he was working in law and business. His professional association was formed from there.

He took charge of Warner Bros. in 2019. Role as director of cinematic operations and responsible for managing the daily operations of the studio. In recent years it has had to take over AT&T and become a pandemic. He played a key role in the development of “Project Popcorn” with former WarnerMedia CEO Jason Killard, during which all Warner Bros. 2021 were released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max.

As COO, Blackwood has waived a wide range of supervisory responsibilities, including physical production, business, music and live events. He went on to co-sponsor New Line with Richard Brenner. Blackwood Assisted Leadership at New Line Tempting Universe, the hit horror franchise from James One and The Hobbit Films.

“Caroline is one of the most talented and strategic business executives, and the highlight of my career has been working with her for the past 23 years,” said Emerick. “He is a favorite in our film industry and deserves respect for his talent and his peers. He’s been a wonderful partner and an even better friend and I know he has great things ahead of him.

In the statement, Blackwood describes his years with Warner. The outgoing executive said, “New Line and WB have been my home for the past 23 years and I will always see them a lot in my time. I have great respect for David, Mike and Pam and I wish the studio and all my beloved and talented colleagues around the world every success.”
