Only Muders in the Building season 3 promises more joy for the audience

The first two episodes of Only Murders in The Building show that the series continues to offer an intriguing and entertaining storyline.

After a few months of waiting, the third season of Only homicides in the building debuted on Star+ on August 8thto the delight of fans who will now be able to follow Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) in an attempt to unravel a new murder case.

Unfortunately, the new season wasn’t released all at once, so subscribers will have to wait. every Tuesday to watch new episodes. Despite this drawback, however, the production promises to continue to please the public with an intriguing story full of twists and turns.

In the first two chapters we see the main trio reunite after almost a year of quiet. This time they meet on the opening day of the Broadway musical starring Charles and directed by Oliver. All was going well, but, as it should be, a new murder occurs when Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), the play’s protagonist, appears spitting blood on stage shortly after the curtain rises.

This fact closes the first chapter and, of course, serves to leave the audience intrigued by what will happen next. By the way, that’s the big draw of Only murders in the building: they manage to finish each episode by leaving the audience with a taste of “I want more”. Even after two seasons of ten episodes each, the text still shows that it still has the strength to continue to intrigue the public, without the plot falling into uniformity.

And if you like the plot, as expected, the novelty belongs to the cast. In addition to Paul Rudd as the obnoxious protagonist who collects enemies and thus becomes a difficult case to unravel, the series also features Ashley Park (Mindy of Emilia in Paris) as an actress addicted to Tick tock.

In the first two episodes her character isn’t very well explained in the scene, but it seems like she will have an air of mystery and could easily become a suspect in the trio of amateur detectives.

Also new is Tobert (Jesse Williams) – that’s right, Robert with a T, as he introduces himself. The boy is a director who has been entrusted with the task of recording a documentary about Ben’s first performance in the theater, but with the actor’s death he ends up close to the trio and begins to take an interest in the investigation.

Apparently, he will be very close to Mabel and could even become her romantic partner, as the young woman appears dressed as a bride in the trailer.

Meryl Streep is the big news of Only Murders in The Building (Image: Disclosure/Star+)

This hook would be interesting for the plot, since the past and personal lives of the three protagonists need to be better developed. In the second season, for example, Mabel has a love story with Alice (Cara Delevingne), but it ends without too many explanations, leaving loose ends and doubts in the air, something that annoys and gives the feeling that the series is incomplete.

Finally, returning to the new characters, the great novelty of the third season is the appearance of Meryl Streep in the role of Loretta, a mature actress who has never had an outlet in an artistic career. When she finally gets a lead role in that Broadway musical and it looks like her life will improve, things are turned upside down and the show is cancelled.

Enigmatic and with a face that hides an absurd past, Loretta should be the flagship of Only homicides in the buildingand it goes without saying that the fact that she’s played by Streep gives the character added weight, as the audiovisual veteran stands out in front of the cameras.

One of the best moments so far comes when Loretta participates in reading scenes from the musical and gets lost in the text. Playing with different accents and making big faces and mouths, Meryl managed to get a good laugh at the same time she left the viewer embarrassed.

The weft engages more easily

Leaving aside the cast a bit and talking about the plot, it is clear that the plot of the third season meshes more easily. If in the previous seasons it took at least four chapters to make the audience dive headlong into the mystery, in this one the first episode already shows what it is all about, and the second does it even better, giving an excellent reversal.

In this way, the audience can expect that in the next chapters the story will flow smoothly and continue to be rich in detail, as already foreseen by the narrative of the series.

The chemistry between Selena, Steve Martin and Martin Short is also worth commending. The trio stay sharp both in front of the cameras and behind them, signing off as executive producers on the series. It remains to be seen whether with this new season the work will be nominated again for an Emmy and whether Selena will not be ignored.

Anyway, leaving speculation aside, who plays the new season of Only homicides in the building find funny and intriguing incidents that tell a great story of murder. Remembering that the chapters will be released weekly, always on Tuesdayon Stella+.
