Netflix trailer: Bridgerton stars in the next sensual thriller set to hit the platform

Netflix has released the first trailer for the erotic thriller Fair Play, which the platform acquired for $20 million in one of the biggest deals at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Bridgerton star Phoebe Dinevor and Oppenheimer actor Alden Ehrenreich go head-to-head in this film, which sheds light on the complicated relationship between a power-hungry couple competing against a ruthless finance company.

Fair Play is the feature debut of writer-director Chloe Domont, who directed episodes of HBO’s Ballers and Showtime’s Billions. The film also stars Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), Rich Sommer (Mad Men) and Sebastian De Souza (The Big One).

Here’s the film’s official synopsis: “When a coveted promotion presents itself at a ruthless financial corporation, a mutual exchange begins between lovers Emily (Phoebe Dinevor) and Luke (Alden Ehrenreich), who used to support each other. Vinegar and will turn into more evil.

As the power dynamics in their relationship irreversibly shift, the couple must face the true cost of success and the confusing limits of ambition.”

With rave reviews from Sundance, the film critic variety Owen Gleiberman praised fair play “A lot to say about the post-#MeToo world, and a lot of fun doing it“.

The point of this movie is that no one comes out of it feeling the same way as anyone else“- says Chloe Domont in the columns Vanity Fair. “I’m here to straighten people out, choke a little, choke a little… I’m looking forward to presenting it because I think it’s going to spark even more conversation and debate.“.

The origins of the story are deeply personal, rooted in Tisch’s early years as a graduate student in the film industry and a romantic relationship, the complexities of which are echoed throughout the film.

How is it that even today, with all the progress we’ve made, a man’s success is a relationship win, but otherwise feels like a threat?

I felt that this was something that many of us have experienced but was afraid to talk about and confront. The film’s setting in Hollywood seemed a bit close, but the world of finance presented itself as a high-stakes, fast-paced alternative, idiosyncratic and defined by hierarchy. It was exciting, new and huge ground to cover.

See you October 13th on Netflix to discover Fair Play.
