Tired of Marvel and DC? A superhero movie parody series starring The Boys star

Marvel and DC superheroes will adopt it as their title. This is the starting point for a new comedy series commissioned by HBO. According to the American media The Hollywood ReporterThis show examines the concept of superhero movie franchises, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe.

Titled The Franchise, this comedy takes us 30 minutes per episode behind the scenes of a superhero movie disaster. HBO released the official content:

“The film crew of a hated franchise struggles to maintain its place in a brutal and volatile cinematic universe. The franchise shines a light on the destructive and hidden behind-the-scenes of the superhero movie world to ask the question: How is this cinematic genre really created? Because every fight story has its origins. “

This parody feature film already has its cast and we can find Himesh Patel (Tenet) as Daniel, Aya Kesh (Boys) as Anita, Jessica Hines (Shaun of the Dead) as Steph, Billy Magnussen. (Death May Endure) as Adam, Loli Adefop (Miracle Workers) as Doug, Darren Goldstein (By God’s Order) as Pat and Isaac Powell (American Horror Story) as Bryson.

The franchise will be able to count on delicious guests like Richard E. Grant, who starred in the Marvel Loki series, or Daniel Bruhl, who plays Helmut Zemo in the Marvel Universe.

Big names behind the camera have also been chosen. Succession, Veep and Misfits writer Jon Brown will serve as showrunner and write the series pilot, which will be directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall, 1917).

Note that work on the pilot was completed before the SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) strike began last month.

The production of the series will not be completed until the actors, but also the WGA (Writers Guild of America, the union of American screenwriters that protects their copyrights) screenwriters’ strike is over.
