Barbie is the highest-grossing film in US history for a female director

Barbie continues to break records in its passage in theaters around the world. This Friday (10), Greta Gerwing’s feature became the highest grossing film in US history for a film directed by a woman, grossing $500 million.

Holding the position up until then was Frozen II, directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and which grossed $477.4 million.

Barbie’s feat is even more impressive when we consider that, unlike Frozen II, Mattel’s long doll is still in theaters, so that value should increase in the coming days.

In total, Barbie has already passed the $1 billion mark at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo, making her Warner Bros.

What is the cast of Barbie?

Directed by Greta Gerwig, the live-action film features a strong cast, ranging from Margot Robbie, best known for her role as Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad franchise — brings the original doll to life — to Dua Lipa, the singer who plays Mermaid Barbie version. Ryan Gosling will play Ken, the already known boyfriend.

In addition to them, other famous stars are present in the film, such as Will Ferrell and Connor Swindells. And not only that: Emma Mickey, Sharon Rooney and Nicola Coughlan will interpret other “versions” of the Barbie doll, while Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Simu Liu and Ncuti Gatwa bring to life other facets of Ken.
