If the shape seen in the background (see below) seems to match Jedi’s appearance, it is unlikely that it really is, that his right hand was cut short by Anakin Skywalker shortly before his death.
If it were not for Mais Vindu, the reappearance of the Jedi in the next Star Wars play is still allowed, especially since its translator, Samuel L. Jackson has repeatedly expressed interest in returning to the role of Disney. However, there remains the best way to get the character back, hence, as a flashback, or as part of a series whose plot develops during the action of the prelude.
