Once again, we are introduced to the painful reality of Charlie (now played by Freddie Highmore): an extremely poor boy who lives with his parents and four grandparents in an extremely precarious house. These days, his grandfather (David Kelly) is his best and most trusted friend, and he’s always been telling him stories about the chocolate factory they live near: how the sweets are unique and the most delicious in the world, and that the eccentric owner of the place had been reclusive inside for many years.

Growing up, Charlie got used to admiring sweets and toys from a distance, as he never had enough money to buy anything, unlike other children. But everything changes when his grandfather decides to give him a coin that he has been keeping for some time: the old man insists that the boy go to a candy store to buy a bar of chocolate.

And the reason for this sudden request from Charlie’s grandfather? Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp), of course. The eccentric owner of the chocolate factory decides to introduce himself and announces something new that drives the children crazy: five golden invitations will be inserted inside the boxes of the chocolate bars, and the five children who find them will have the opportunity to attend the factory. .

When Charlie buys the chocolate bar with his grandfather’s money and opens the package, the unexpected happens: inside is a golden invitation. So he and four other children are taken by their guardians to the factory. In this reboot, we get a chance to check out different attributes than those explored in the previous film, such as brighter colors and hardworking squirrels that contribute to the factory’s output. Otherwise, the essence is the same and the film’s lesson about being a humble and respectful person is still there.

The cast still has names like Helena Bonham Carter, Jordan Fry, AnnaSophia Robb, Julia Winter, Deep Roy, Missi Pyle and Adam Godley. For those interested, it is possible to watch the film on the Prime Video streaming service. Watch the trailer below:
