‘The best DC movie since Wonder Woman’: First reviews for Blue Beetle have dropped

No one is waiting for him in the corner and he could create a surprise! The Blue Beetle, worn by Cobra Kai star Xolo Mariduenia, hits theaters on August 16. The DC movie tells the story of Jaime Reyes, who has just graduated from college. He returns home full of ambition, only to find that things have changed a lot since he left.

As he searches for his place in the universe, fate intervenes: Jamie accidentally finds himself in the hands of the Scarab, an ancient relic of alien biotechnology. Once the Scarab chooses to host Jaime, the young man finds himself clad in an extraordinary suit of armor that grants him extraordinary – and unpredictable – powers. Then everything changes for Jamie, who becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, the blockbuster has been screened for journalists and influencers in the US and the first reviews have dropped! Will it raise the bar after the dismal failures of Black Adam and Shazam 2?

“Blue Beetle was much better than I expected. It added its own flavor to the superhero genre by focusing the film on a close-knit family and Latino culture. It’s fun, very funny, and has a few jokes that blew my mind.”Collider’s Steven Weintraub said.

On the other hand, journalist and blogger Vanessa D. is also excited. “Blue Beetle is everything I hoped for! The director infused the film with the heart of Latino culture and focused on the importance of family and self-belief in the face of adversity. This is the best DC film since Wonder Woman!”

“Blue Beetle is one of the best movies of the modern DC era. Along with the first Wonder Woman movie. Fun. Moving. Culturally relevant. Extremely funny. I was blown away. Jaime Reyes absolutely deserves to be a part of the new DCU.”David Betancourt of the Washington Post said.

“Blue Beetle is a huge win for DC and an electrifying introduction to the DCU’s first hero. A star-studded performance from the charismatic Xolo Maridueña confidently navigates this intimate journey of family, legacy and purpose. Be. A fresh and engaging take on the original. Story!”claims Griffin Schiller, creator of FilmSpeak.

“Blue Beetle is my favorite film of the post-Nolan DC era. It’s an action-packed, highly entertaining superhero story about family…and nothing is more important than family. The film is unique in that it lovingly and unabashedly shares the Mexican culture of the Reyes family “.– announced media POC Culture.

“Blue Beetle is an honest and enjoyable addition to the DC Universe. A phenomenal cast with charismatic characters and a compelling story. The portrayal means a lot and it’s a joy to see. Xolo in the lead role is just amazing and I love it. I can’t wait to see more.”– says The Hollywood Handle.

“Blue Beetle is fantastic entertainment. Funny, amazingly honest, screen-crushing Xolo Maridueña. This kid is talented! Director Angel Manuel Soto turns the supposed invisibility of Latinos into a true superpower. A true source of inspiration.”says Clayton Davis of Variety.

“I’m impressed by the pop culture details and historical references of Blue Beetle. From Macario to Cronus to El Chapulin Colorado. But I’m even more impressed that America’s infamous school is such an integral part of history. This film is the work of the directors. I know Latin America and I’m interested in it.”Analyzed by film critic Carlos Aguilar.

“The Blue Beetle was a big surprise. After a hesitant start, the superhero movie is full of laughs, action and heart. Xolo Maridueña rocks it, Bruna Marquesin is hilarious, George Lopez is hilarious and Adriana Barraza also plays Nana. Bring the whole family and bring the tissues.”Excited media CineMovieTV.

For now, Blue Beetle and DC are successfully dancing to the Latin tune if these early positive reviews are to be believed. The first Latino superhero to shine in the cinema (which he was almost deprived of because it was originally intended for the HBO Max platform), he will be released in our theaters on August 16. You have to wait two more short days before you can make a decision.

“It’s nice to see that our hard work has finally been revealed to the public. We worked very hard on this film. It’s nice to see this challenge come to an end. The idea was to be really authentically Latino with this film. Hence the casting of the actors. Latin American origin, and that of immigrants in the United States through several generations.director Angel Manuel Soto explained to us last April.

“Xolo, for example, was born in the United States, but his parents are Mexican and Cuban. We also have Mexican stars like Adriana Barraza and Damian Alcázar. I wanted to pay tribute to the Latin American heritage that is now part of the United States landscape itself.”

See you in theaters on August 16th to catch the adventures of the blue beetle.
