Zachary Levi opined about the latest film productions released, stating that a lot of Hollywood these days “is rubbish”
Zachary Leviknown for starring in the franchise Shazam!, asked the public to give an audience to quality films instead of the “trash” that is coming out of Hollywood. The actor made his comment during a fan event in Chicago (via Entertainment Weekly).
The amount of content that’s been coming out of Hollywood and it’s rubbish… Damn, they really don’t care to produce something quality for you guys. How many times have you watched a trailer and thought ‘Oh my God, this is going to be cool!’ and then you go to the movies and think ‘Wait, that’s all it is?’
Levi points out that film studios are no longer producing quality content ‘once you’ve already bought the ticket and already sat in the chair, your money is spent’.
Levi’s comments relate to his anger over the commercial failure of Shazam! Gods Fury (2023), the second superhero film from A.D, at the movies. The film earned just $133 million worldwide on a budget of $125 million.
Last month, Levi defended the quality of the film and said he hoped it would be rediscovered in the future, in addition to blaming the lukewarm critical reception of Gods Fury (2023) due to public disinterest. The film, like the first in the franchise, is available for streaming on HBO Max.
