The goals came in the final leg of the second half at Eden Park stadium
Spain is in the World Cup final. With goals from Paraluello and Carmona, the Spaniards beat the Swedes 2-1 this Tuesday and will play in their first World Cup final. Blomqvist slowed down for his opponents.
The game
The first good chance of the game came in the 10th minute with the arrival of Spain, following a cross into the area. Redondo headed in and the Swedish defense moved away. Hermoso tries again to take the rebound, but the opposing defense manages to push him away.
In the 13th minute, Olga Carmona risked a decisive shot from outside the box, scaring the Swedish players.
The Swedish response followed, with a cross from Rubensson. Kaneryd attempted a header, but it was ruled offside.
Bonati receives the ball on the right in the 20th minute and crosses into the area. Hermoso goes high for the header and the ball is in Musovic’s hands.
By scoring high, the Spaniards stayed with the ball more and the opponents waited to launch the counter-attack, with few attacking chances.
Under pressure from the Spaniards who kept possession of the ball, in the 34th minute Putellas took the rebound from a free-kick hit on the left, freed the marker and finished decisively to deflect the opposing defence.
Sweden struggled to get going and looked for space on the flanks in the short time they had possession. Asllani enters the area and tries to finish, but the ball goes straight to the goal line.
Sweden’s first goal chance came in the 41st minute, with a high cross. Rolfö received a free kick inside the area and went to his left, for a great save by Coll. It was the best chance of the whole first half.
The Swedish pressing was followed by two corners in a row, but the opposing defense prevented the finalization of the balls which were lifted in the box.
The teams didn’t move at the interval and in the first minute of the second half Asllani kicked a free-kick into the area, Putellas got up to block.
Sweden came back more connected and tried to use airballs to exploit their opponents.
After a corner kick in the 6th minute, goalkeeper Cata Col leaps to block with a punch. Eriksson tried to split, but referee Edina Alves called for an attacking foul.
In the 11th minute Vilda removes Putellas and inserts Paralluelo in his place. The best in the world had a decent performance in the match.
On his first move, the number 18 shirt created an opportunity on the left side, but the Swedish defense capitalized on it.
In an attempt to regain possession, the Spaniards were on the wing and in the 15th minute Redondo tackled Aitana on the left, but as he entered the area, Rubensson intercepted the shot.
The rain came to Eden Park stadium and the pitch became slippery, leaving the game more hurried.
Abelleira was fouled on the edge of the area by Rolfö in the 22nd minute. In charge, Caldentey’s ball hit the barrier.
With a quick counter-attack down the left wing, Hermoso crossed into the area. Redondo tried to finish and fell, in the sequence Paralluelo recovered the ball in order not to leave the backline, and even when he was on the ground Redondo kicked and hit the net from outside.
In the second Spanish substitution Eva Navarro appeared in place of striker Redondo.
Sweden’s first substitutions came in the 31st minute. Schough came into midfield in place of Kaneryd. Blackstenius succumbed to the attack on Blomqvist.
The first Spanish goal of the match came from Paralluelo’s feet. The 19-year-old striker receives a cross from the left created by Hermoso, Andersson fails to take it and the number 18 closes low inside the area for the 1-0, in the 41st minute.
The offer was analyzed by the VAR, but was validated by the arbitration.
Peter Gerhardsson moved the squad again with Rubensson leaving due to the arrival of Hurtig in the centre.
Spain celebrated the goal again and shortly after 42 minutes Sweden equalized. After a lineout with a cross in the box, Hurtig went down and Blomqvist landed safely on his foot to make it 1-1.
The match came to boiling point in the final stretch. In the 44th minute Abelleira takes a low corner kick and Olga Carmona closes with no possibility of defense for goalkeeper Musovic. Spain ahead again. 2 to 1.
Edina Alves scored seven minutes into added time.
