Finally, some news from Mordor! According to new rumors, the second season of the premier video series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings will feature an epic battle that cannot be contained in one episode. This is encouraging news if it is confirmed.
Like any rumour, it should of course be taken with a grain of salt. But here’s what we learn. According to the website The camaraderie of fansSeason 2 of Rings of Power sees a massive battle between the elves of Eregion and a horde of orcs led by Adari, a fallen elf played by Sam Hazeldine (replacing Game of Thrones veteran Joseph Maul, who played the role in season 1).
Rumor has it that several important characters will attend this confrontation, namely the elven archer Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova) and Elrond (Robert Aramaio), who is still known for his skills as a diplomat. It’s also possible for Rounding, Elrond, and Adar to share scenes together and even have a three-way duel! Of course, as with any rumor like this, it’s best not to get too excited until we get official confirmation from Amazon.
Season 2 is still on track for 2024
The Rings of Power is one of the rare series that was not affected by the writers and actors strikes in Hollywood. The writers’ strike hit as Season 2 was due to wrap in less than three weeks. Showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne dropped out of the series when the strike began, but when it ended, production continued without them.
This means that as of this writing, The Rings of Power Season 2 is likely in post-production. We don’t know if McKay and Payne’s absence will slow down the show, but for now, it’s likely that the show’s second season will still premiere in 2024, as planned. Season 1 of The Rings of Power is still available on Prime Video.
