“Thunderbolts”: Marvel’s Suicide Squad is getting a movie in the MCU

The Marvel group called Thunderbolts, a gathering of Suicide Squad-style villains, will win a movie within the MCU.

The making of the live-action film “Thunderbolts” has already been confirmed by Marvel Studios, who also revealed that Jake Schreier will direct the production.

Since the end of Infinity Saga, the MCU has gone in different directions with its heroes and villains, and the arrival of Disney + has only expanded it further, taking up the story of the characters and also introducing new heroes and villains to the party.

But one thing was still missing and had been anticipated for a long time, with Marvel Studios slowly paving the way for their appearance: the Thunderbolts, basically Marvel’s version of the Suicide Squad. That is, it focuses on the villains who are becoming more neutral and even anti-hero within the Marvel Universe.

Now, Marvel Studios will finally take Thunderbolts off paper and fans’ imaginations, with Deadline stating that the company is already working on the group’s live-action film. Jake Schreier will direct the film, with Black Widow’s Eric Pearson as screenwriter and Kevin Feige as executive producer.

So far, no “Thunderbolts” cast members have been released, with the project still in development.

However, as this is a film that will bring together characters who, at least for the most part, should already be known to the MCU audience, there are several candidates to join this cast. Despite being an Avenger, Jeremy Renner’s “Hawkeye” is part of the Thunderbolts in the comics. Another strong candidate is Barão Zemo, who reappeared in “The Hawk and the Winter Soldier” as Daniel Brühl.

New MCU’s black widow Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, is another Thunderbolts character who may be returning in the film. Other characters that may appear in “Thunderbolts” include Ghost the Punisher, Elektra the Ghost Rider and Luke Cage, as well as Deadpool himself, who will join the MCU.

“Thunderbolts” does not yet have any further details released or a window for the premiere.
