Fans of Asian dramas, doramas, are increasingly expanding their range of series, consuming not only South Korea’s best-known productions, but also watching storylines from other countries, such as China.
This is the case of the c-drama Please Be My Family, known in the country as Seja Minha Família, in free translation. The romance series premiered in May 2023 and features 30 episodes in 1 single season.
Directed by Li Jie (Only Love Can Do This To Me), the series tells the story of Song Hao Yu, a work-obsessed single father struggling with the pressures of being a single parent, and Qi Zi Yuan, a single mother in urgent need of money to pay for a major operation.
Their paths cross when Song Hao Yu is looking for a birthday present for her son, and sees in Qi Zi Yuan the opportunity to solve her problems with a “marriage of convenience”.

Synopsis
Qi Si Le needs her project work to cover the surgical expenses for her daughter, Xuan Xuan, who has a brain tumor. Meanwhile, she pursues the man who can help her, Song Hao Yu, who is a single father and has her own issues to deal with.
As Song Hao Yu helps her son Chen Cheng choose a birthday present, she notices Qi Si Le wearing a brooch identical to her son’s.
Following the example of the brooch, Song Hao Yu confirms the relationship between Xuan Xuan and Chen Cheng, and with the intention of raising a complete family for the two sons, the businessman proposes to Qi Si Le a “marriage of convenience”, embarking on a relationship with an uncertain future.
