Michael Cera was cast at the last minute to play Allan in Greta Gerwig’s film

Michael Cera plays Allan in the movie Greta Gerwig, but, if it weren’t for a video call in the 45 of the last time, this would not have happened. “It was kind of a last-minute casting call,” explained the actor in an interview with QA (taken before the Hollywood union strike).

“My manager got a call to check my availability, and he called me and said, ‘I got a call about a movie. Barbie. Greta Gerwig is directing it, and it will shoot in London for four months or so. So I said you probably wouldn’t want to, because you probably don’t want to go to London,” he said.Wax.

It was not the best decision of the entrepreneur. “I was like, ‘What? Call back!’ He didn’t screw up, but he said, ‘I managed their expectations, in case you don’t want to do it’. I thought, ‘How can I not do this? I need to do this! Scott Pilgrim vs the World (2010).

Michael got the email from Greta with a mutual friend and soon sent a message asking to act in the film. The director responded with a Zoom link, a video call platform: “She wrote something like: ‘Let’s Zoom right now. Here’s a Zoom link, I’ll be there in an hour'”, she said. From then on, we already know that she did everything right.

Wax plays Allan, a doll discontinued by Mattel who would be Ken’s friend. “Allan is a sad figure. He’s just a person who doesn’t have a place in the world”, defined the artist.
