Deborah Chow faced quite a challenge when she agreed to direct six episodes of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi: Return of the Jedi’. In an interview with Varietythe director told how it was balancing the series with the two “Star Wars” trilogies, working with the actors of the original films, the influence of the saga and a possible continuation.

Princess Leia without Carrie Fisher
Chow also talked about how he handled the Princess Leia story. That’s because the series follows Obi-Wan Kenobi’s adventure to save the character from the forces of the Empire when he was still 10 years old.
Leia was played by Vivian Lyra Blair and, according to Chow, the secret was not to think about Carrie Fisher, the princess actress in the cinema.
Not only is it difficult for younger actors (…), but to take on such an iconic role? Not just Princess Leia, but Carrie Fisher as well. She [Vivian] he did an amazing job just embodying it. But the most important thing I worked on with her was trying to get it out of her. [Carrie] head – don’t think about Carrie Fisher, don’t think about “Star Wars” and just try to react emotionally to the scenes and be present in the scenes as a character.

Will Obi-Wan Kenobi have a sequel?
Chow also talked about a possible sequel to ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’. This is because the production is a mini-series (or limited series), with a “beginning, middle and end”.
We still have 10 years [na história de Obi-Wan até o próximo Star Wars]. So there are definitely more stories to tell. Therefore, we really conceived it as a limited series. Actually, the intention was to have a beginning, a middle and an end. But never say never.
