The most expensive signing in Bayern Munich’s history, striker Harry Kane scored once and scored again on his Bundesliga debut to lift the holders to a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday and a start of positive season.
The England captain, who signed the club for €100m last week to resolve Bayern’s attacking woes, scored the team’s second goal in the 29th minute after setting up Leroy Sané, who opened the scoring fourth minute of the opening phase.
Sané scored another in the 90th minute with an easy touch and Mathys Tel made it 4-0 in stoppage time.
“It was a good night,” Kane told reporters.
“It was a difficult game, but we got off to a good start with the goal early on. Then they put us in trouble in the second half, but then I scored the second goal and the guys on the bench did the rest.”
“I was a bit nervous and excited. Even though it wasn’t my first game for Bayern, I was nervous before the game,” said Kane.
“I had butterflies in my stomach.”
Bayern suffered a surprise 3-0 home defeat to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup last week, with Kane coming on as a second-half substitute following his move from Tottenham Hotspur.
